Thank you to everyone who supported Red Friday this year. Across the Black Friday weekend, your purchases helped us raise £4,060.55 for UK Mountain Rescue. The donation is being shared equally between Mountain Rescue England & Wales and Scottish Mountain Rescue organisations, supporting the volunteers who give their time, knowledge, and experience to help people in the mountains, often in the worst conditions.
Red Friday began as a simple way to take a different path at a time of year usually dominated by discounting. We’ve worked with rescue volunteers for more than a decade, learning from the gear they depend on and the environments in which they operate. Giving something meaningful back to that community continues to feel like the right thing to do.
Mike Park, CEO of Mountain Rescue England & Wales, said: “On behalf of Mountain Rescue England & Wales, we would like to thank the customers of Mountain Equipment for your donation in supporting the 3000+ unpaid mountain rescue volunteers in providing a 24/7, 365 days of the year, free of charge search and rescue service. Your continuing support means everything to us.”
Elsie Riley from Scottish Mountain Rescue said: “We are so grateful to Mountain Equipment for turning Black Friday red for our volunteer teams. Your support keeps our teams equipped, prepared, and ready to respond when people need us most. Thank you for helping to power our volunteers to save lives in the Scottish Mountains.”
Neil Bradley, Mountain Equipment’s Brand Director, said: “Mountain Rescue teams represent much of what we value in mountain life: skill, humility, and a willingness to help others when it matters most. We’re proud that this year’s Red Friday donation will support the work they do all year round.”
Thank you again to everyone who played a part in this year’s outcome. We’re already looking at how we can grow Red Friday in 2026 and do even more for the teams who play such a vital part in our outdoor community.
